2006 Chesapeake Bay Bridge Walk

The leading boat (Brasil 1) has just rounded the mark and is deploying its spinnaker as it heads back down the bay. The turning point is the small blue buoy next to the race boat.

ABN AMRO TWO charges through the spectator fleet south of the Bay Bridge as it heads for the turning point. You can click on either picture to enlarge it; use your browser's "back" command to return here.

The two ABN AMRO boats plus Ericsson Racing Team approach the mark from the left, while Brasil 1, movistar, and Pirates of the Caribbean head down the bay under spinnakers. It seemed to me that the two ABN AMRO boats had a little trouble rounding the mark, due to the encroaching race official boats. ABN AMRO ONE wound up making a wide turn and had to dodge through a gaggle of small boats.
