Exhibits and Activities

One of the exhibits in the main exhibit area; this one is called "Professor Soil's Amazing Microbial Zoo". Most of the exhibits were fairly technical, although the scientists tried to explain the basics to children.   The exhibit at the fish and invertebrate ecology lab, located near the river. Behind the exhibit tables, there are numerous tanks filled with river water where scientists perform experiments with fish, crabs, and oysters, among other things.

An oyster-growing demonstration, which took place on a floating platform next to SERC's dock on the Rhode River.   This scientist has just demonstrated seining, and is now showing the children all the minuscule creatures that were collected.

They also had a crabbing demonstration on the floating platform, and a volunteer gingerly displays a blue crab.
