Sailing to the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean 1500

Visiting Road Town: Botanic Garden (continued)

Two pictures of a small waterfall—the left-hand picture is with the flash, the right-hand picture is a time exposure.

Artocarpus altilis, which is the Breadfruit Tree. Click on the picture to see a bigger version; use your browser's "back" command to return here.   This portion of the garden contains plants and herbs used in traditional medicine here in the Caribbean.

Kigelia pinnata, also known as the Sausage Tree. The tree has showy red flowers that bloom at night (being pollinated by bats) and eventually develop into large sausage-shaped fruits. I didn't see any fruits and since it was daytime, no flowers were open.

Pistia stratiotes, also known as Water Lettuce. Click on the right-hand picture to see a bigger version; use your browser's "back" command to return here.
