Sailing to the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean 1500

Visiting Tortola (continued)

The Bomba Shack

Heading westward, the next bight after Cane Garden Bay was Cappoons Bay where we came across the Bomba Shack, which is one of the locally famous landmarks. Built decades ago from found materials by a man named Bomba, the shack has for years hosted a blow-out party once a month during the night of the full moon. It's the most popular party on the island, with many hundreds of people attending. When we visited in the afternoon the place was deserted, but we could see evidence of some pretty wild times: numerous bras and panties dangled from the ceiling.
