I came across this robust rock wall; someone had placed some bleached branches in the top. When you see a structure like this, it's hard to tell how old it is. Rocks have been used and reused over the ages, and rocks that once might have been part of an ahu now might be part of a livestock fence.

 
This large conical rock pile was visible from the anchorage.   Looking back inland through a gap in the rock wall.

 
Some rocky areas near the cliffs had patches of succulent ferns. These may be Shore Spleenwort (Asplenium obtusatum).
