North of Philadelphia, there were several big junkyards filled with mountains of rusting scrap.   Trackside urban landscape, north of Philadelphia.

It must be brand new, because everything is still clean and shiny. There are a couple of workmen climbing on the tanks, adjusting things.

I was dismayed by the appalling amount of garbage, junk, and trash along the railroad right-of-way in big cities like Philadelphia and Baltimore. In my opinion, this shows such carelessness and slovenliness and the total lack of civic virtue and pride—people surrounding themselves with their own filth and detritus then living in it day after day until it becomes normal, just part of the urban landscape.
