Sailing Through the Variable Winds

Water, Water, Everywhere

We spend plenty of time looking at the ocean and you might think it would become boring. But there is so much variation in the ocean's appearance—changes in lighting, color, texture, contrast, wave height and shape—that we get to enjoy an endlessly varying seascape. One good thing about being a shutterbug is that it has enhanced my appreciation for all these qualities of appearance. I spent a few minutes one day taking pictures of the ocean's surface; no two pictures came out the same, as the next two pages of pictures demonstrate.
